It all started as an awkward group of young boys, but with the time each of them got their own images that make SHINee so special as a whole.

ihartjinki: BEFORE 12 AM KST STRIKES I may not be there from the start, but I promise to be there until the end. On the same day five years ago, five guys stood on stage with trembling hands and feet, all nervous about how their first performance as a group will be. They were nervous for it was their first time, and clueless about what the audience’s reactions will be. They were full of doubt, full of hopes, full of worries if they will gain fans, and if ever people will love them and recognize them as artists. There were lots of praises, there were lots of good feedbacks, however, there were still criticisms, and it never stopped for these things went on and on and on. Praises – Good Feedbacks – Criticisms – Antis. They were all there, but how positive or negative things may be, it never stopped these five precious SHINing idols to stand on stage together – as one – united – with one heart and one soul towards music. Onew, Jonghyun, Key, Minho and Taemin, on your five year anniversary, I hope you can have some time to just sit back, look at each other silently, and slowly look back at where you started, how you went through everything, and where you are standing right now. I hope you can see and appreciate what you’ve done so far, for just so you know, every part of SHINee World right now is celebrating. We are celebrating because you’re still here, standing there on stage together, as one – and just like five years ago, you have one heart and soul towards music. I am certain 200 percent that you know me, and I want to introduce myself as someone who appreciates your music and your existence, and your talents, and your personalities, and just everything about the five of you. I am a simple fan. The albums and mechandise I have could never match as to how a lot of your fans have. I am not someone who goes here and there to buy your this and that. I am not someone who follows you around your schedules, takes pictures, and uploads it for all your fans around the world to see. I am not someone who has contributed a lot to this fandom. I am just your fan, someone who can sit all day long and listen to your music, someone who walks her everyday life while thinking about all the positive things you brought into her life, and eventually applying it to make herself a better person. What I want to do right now is to just give a pat on each of your shoulders and say, “You did well, SHINee. It may not affect you so much, but I’m proud of you.” To Lee Taemin: You are one of those idols who debuted at a very young age, but look at you now, you’re old enough to swoon everybody on their knees. You even have your own wife. From having no lines at all during the debut song, and now even taking up the main vocalist’s lines on the song when he was not around, it is definitely obvious how well you grew and developed as an artist. You are older than me so I think it’s awkward to say that I really watched how you grew, but honestly? I really did. From that mushroom boy who turned into a hot blooded young man after five years, I am proud of you. Continue growing but don’t forget your goofy and awkward self at times. Look after your hyungs coz they are growing older, and for sure they cannot do some things the same way ever again. Be the maknae who knows how to follows but is very considerate about his hyungs. I am looking forward to more amazing things that you can do in the future. Fighting to you, Taemin-ssi!! And again, I am proud of you. To Choi Minho: To you who appears to be very competitive and manly but always have the soft spot for your hyungs and your dongsaengs, I want to congratulate you for shining on stage and on Television for five years now. Your weird cravings for winning and being first, I don’t take it as a negative thing for I know you always excel when you aim for the best. Like Taemin, I saw how you grew. From that boy who looked so thin, didn’t talk much, and was awkward when asked to rap a certain line, you just turn into a hot gorgeous young man who can sing and rap well, with so much confidence that you even became an actor, and one of the members who talk a lot during interviews. And like the maknae, I hope you could also look after your hyungs well and always be there. Be the dongsaeng who hyungs can depend on, too.. well I know you are like that. You have always been the one who supports your hyungs well when you know they need it. Fighting to you, Minho-ssi! I am proud of you. To Key: Clap clap because today is also Key’s 5th birthday. You were not born as Key, but as you stood there on the stage, the normal teenager Kim Kibum turned to be a star named Key. To you who is considered an umma in the group, who is always concern about his group mates, and who always nags at them when he’s pissed off about something, I want to thank you for taking care of these people for five years. I couldn’t say anything more because you are really the all around SHINee boy. You can do almost everything except choosing the right words to say when you want to insult someone. Don’t take me wrongly, but I really like your attitude of being just blunt and freely saying anything that goes into your mind. But Kibum-ah… you cannot have a girlfriend if you’re always like that. I am looking forward to more diva feels from you, the almighty. Fighting to you, Key-ssi! I am proud of you. To Jonghyun: To the least person whom I thought could ruin my bias list, I am admittingly saying I was wrong to underestimate you. If there’s one member I feel so sorry towards to, that is you. I’m sorry I thought of you before so lowly. I’m sorry I always insult your voice saying it doesn’t sound so ear friendly. I’m sorry I even insulted your face, saying you don’t look much of a handsome man. I’m sorry I thought you weren’t cool, and was always irritated of your existence. But truly, Jonghyunnie… You slowly made your way through my heart to the point that you’re almost taking it away from my lovely bias. I haven’t said welcome back so Kim Jonghyun.. WELCOME BACK! It is nice to see SHINee being complete again on your anniversary anniversary. Continue shining as the cool member who has a very powerful voice. Date a lot if that makes you happy, but don’t let fans caught you.. that would be a trouble!! But anyway, I am always happy for you. Fighting to you, Jonghyun ssi! I am proud of you. To Onew: Clap clap because just like Key, it’s Onew’s five year birthday as well! As soon as you stood on stage, you were not Lee Jinki, you were Onew, but slowly as time passes by, I knew fans got to know who you really are. To you clumsy leader who always messes up but still has the confidence to take care of his members, I am proud of your leadership for it was a veryyy big help of what your members become after five years. I always believe that good leaders set good examples. Because you were so good to them and guided them very well from the start, they grew really well as their own selves. It’s time to sit back and worry less about your members, and let them worry and take care of you from now on. Your members are too good, and I know in some way, they can start caring for you rather than you caring nonstop for them. I thought I coudn’t say much about you coz I have a personal blog about you and I said everything there, but I didn’t know I will still talk as much as this when it comes to you. You grew a lot as well, however, you always never forget to go back to the Onew fans knew from the start. What makes me worry is the fact that you are the one who just tends to do whatever is told to, for I want you to do what is comfortable for you. Don’t push yourself too much and always think of doing first what you enjoy. You have proven enough. No need to feel pressured, I am telling you. The fans will love you whether or not you change. Just be yourself, and do whatever you want. At times, it may hurt some people (including me /coughs/), but however difficult it may be, promise I will accept it, though forgive me if I randomly voice out something that I don’t like about you. I may not like it, but I love you so in the end, I will always understand. Be the leader who is proud of his members. Be the idol who stays humble however successful he is, but also, be the person who knows how to commend his own progress, acknowledge the things he has done, and be proud of them. SEE? Yours was the longest. Haha. Love you so so much, Onew, whom I always want to call Lee Jinki coz it crazily made me feel much closer to you. Fighting to you, Jinki ssi! I am proud of you. I’ve talked so much… but I’m proud of everyone of you. I AM A PROUD SHINEE FAN, AND I WILL ALWAYS BE. :) Happy 5TH SHINEEVERSARY, Onew, Jonghyun, Key, Minho, and Taemin!! Love lots!
seasidecarnival: Gosh I’m soo happy right now! I’m so happy but my tears are about to fall. It’s been five years! It’s been five years since these five boys made their first performance on national television. Five years since they first introduced themselves as the “shining SHINee”. These boys changed me so much. They’re the reason why I’m into Kpop right now. Why I’m happy for the past five years that I’ve been living. I don’t care if they can’t read this. Heck I don’t even care if I ever existed! I’m just here to support them with whatever makes them happy. I already know that I can’t marry one of them (*cough* Onew *cough*).. I just want to live in the present and enjoy every moment with them. ‘Cause I know the time would come when they would fulfill their military services, when they would be in romantic relationships, then eventually marry whoever they love. Just thinking about all of those things makes me cry… TT^TT Let’s be realistic here. WE CAN’T MARRY THEM AND LIVE HAPPILY EVER AFTER. But.. I’ll find the Onew of my life and then marry him and have cute squishy children.   HAPPY FIVE YEARS WITH SHINEE~~
jjongroyal: Can you believe it guys? It has been five years since SHINee debuted on May 25. Although I wasn’t there since their start, I have seen SHINee grown as a group and as individual members. We Shawols cannot be anymore proud than we are today as we commemorate this special anniversary. I can only imagine what SHINee’s thoughts were when they first debut - Will they like us? Are we talented enough to be as good as our seniors? Will we gain many fans? I can only understand how nervous they were. I’m sure that they didn’t expect to gain the popularity that they received first hand. But as they gained experience and fans, SHINee soon realized that their music and passion for performing had spread to diverse fans other than Koreans. They probably never knew they would develop such a strong international fan base in the first place. But that’s what brings us to love SHINee - their talent, their charisma, their unique personalities, their happiness, and ultimately, their passion for music. Surely most of us understand very little Korean, but that doesn’t stop us from falling in love with their voices and their shining presence on stage. Just like Minho once said: “The way Korean fans cheer for us is a bit different because they can understand the lyrics. For international fans, because they don’t understand the lyrics, I think they cheer more for our performance aspects. We heard that many people learn the Korean language because they love Korean culture and Korean music, and through that, they try to understand our songs. We’re really amazed by this and the effort that international fans put into learning Korean to tell us that they love us.” With all of your songs and performances, Shawols do more than just understand - we connect. Because of you SHINee, we are all able to connect our emotions through the music you sing and the dances you perform. Your music and talent bring so many people together of different walks of life. That’s something I haven’t deeply experienced with other artists, groups, or even genre of music. But most importantly, SHINee has saved many of us out of the darkness. They give us hope, strength, ambition, inspiration, and above all, happiness - whether it’s through smiles, laughs, and even tears. It’s a roller coaster of emotions whenever we see SHINee. For me, I would never take back the year-and-a-half that I’ve spent pouring my feelings out for these five shining boys. They will always be the OT5 that have changed my life, and I know every single member have changed all Shawols’ lives like mine. SHINee, congratulations on your fifth anniversary! You always continue to make us proud and we will always be supporting you all every step of the way. We wish you many more years of success together and to go beyond the distance of your goals. No matter what negativity you may see or hear, just know that there are so many of us that will be strong and courageous for you. We won’t ever let you down <3 “SHINee World is strength for me.
